About The Author

This is Earl J. Dunton’s debut book after many years in Christian service; he shares his reflections on Ephesians 6:10-18. Born in 1952 in Colchester, Essex, by caesarean section, his mother was greeted upon regaining consciousness by the nurse, who told her there was good news and bad news. The good news was that she had a son, and the bad news was that the king had died.

His junior school education began in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and continued in Great Easton and later in Great Dunmow, both in Essex. Due to family circumstances, at the age of nine, he was sent with his younger brother, David, to the Royal Commercial Travellers’ School in Middlesex.

In 1967, the school closed a year before he completed his O-levels, and he left education without any qualifications. He took employment as an office apprentice with Hoffman's Ball and Roller Bearings on the factory floor. Three years into this job, he learnt the difference between attending church and being a Christian, giving his heart to the Lord at age 18.

He soon felt a calling to deepen his understanding of the Bible and to share his growing faith with others. Encouraged by his local minister, he attended Moorlands Bible College in Hampshire at the age of 21. Three years later, seeking to serve the Lord, he moved to Nuneaton to work with Fact and Faith Films. When the office relocated to Manchester, he couldn't move with it. A job opportunity arose with The Gideons International in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, in 1981, and he began working there.

In 1985, he married Jean, and together they have two wonderful adult children, Fiona and Samuel. They retired early in 2014, and in 2016, they moved to be by the sea in Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire. Of no fixed denomination, though traditionally both Anglican, Earl and Jean have always sought to worship at their local church, serving as best they can.

I genuinely enjoyed 'Are You Standing, Dressed and Ready?' I'm writing from a place of thoughtfulness more than anything else.

What stayed with me was the idea that preparation is often an unseen act. Your reflections on standing firm before the battle arrives felt meaningful because they focus on something many people overlook. The book feels less like instruction and more like a sincere reminder for people trying to stay grounded through life's daily struggles.

Growing up around people of faith who quietly carried burdens they rarely spoke about, I found something familiar in these pages. It reminded me that sometimes the hardest part is not facing the battle itself, but remembering who you are before it begins. That is a feeling many people have, but few know how to put into words.

There is a quiet honesty in this book that not everyone will notice, but the right readers will recognize immediately. When people discover something that reflects what they have been carrying inside, they naturally move toward it. I've always believed that when you show people something they truly need, they will go much farther than expected to find it.
